High scores are earned by local high schools

Local high school teams scored among the top competitors in a math, computer and science conference hosted by Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Nov. 21-22. The annual Opportunity Conference (OP) drew teams from throughout Wisconsin and Northern Illinois to compete and demonstrate excellence in the areas of computers, mathematics and science. Trophies, medals and plaques were awarded to recognize top individual and team scores, and all students received t-shirts for their participation.

Math - 2nd Place Team Plaque: Homestead

Medals also were awarded to the top 16 individuals.
Science - 1st Place Team Trophy: Libertyville (Illinois)
Science - 2nd Place Team Plaque: Lockport Township (Illinois)
Science - 3rd Place Team Plaque: Arrowhead 1
Awards also were given to the top overall individuals as well as the top individuals in each category of General Science, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
High school students will get another opportunity to shine during the Regional Science Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at MSOE. From 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., 20 teams will compete in this regional event. The winning team receives an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the National Science Bowl.
