Dr. Medhat Khalil has joined Milwaukee School of Engineering's Applied Technology Center as a professional education instructor in fluid power and motion control.

He will develop, manage and teach intermediate to advanced courses in fluid power and motion control to industry professionals, as well as participate in research through MSOE's Fluid Power Institute®.

Khalil earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada; an M.S. from Cairo University, Egypt; and a B.S. from Military Technical College, Cairo, Egypt. He recently worked as a hydraulic system simulation software developer at CAE Inc., Montreal, and was an adjunct professor at Concordia University, Montreal.

He has more than 15 years of fluid power and motion control training experience, developing customized training material during his work at the Military Technical College of Egypt and at the distributor for a major global fluid power manufacturer.

Khalil's work has been published in the Journal of Mechanical Design, International Journal of Fluid Power and the Journal of Sound and Vibration. He has presented at numerous international conferences and has more than 100 technical training sessions for industry professionals under his belt, in addition to teaching regular university courses.

This addition to the MSOE Applied Technology Center team was in response to the increasing demand for customized training needs of engineers.

"Flexibility and the ability to deliver high-end technical training in control strategies, modeling and simulation have become important factors in our professional education activities with industry," said Shajan John, director of professional education and research development.

This new position was made possible in part through the Otto Maha Endowment Funds for Fluid Power and Motion Control at MSOE.
