MSOE students send blankets to tsunami relief

MSOE students and Dr. Sam Scheibler, professor and Pieper Family Endowed Chair for Servant-Leadership, held a blanket drive to aid victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami. MSOE student response was incredible, as they collected more than 200 clean blankets during the Winter Break and made additional baby blankets from fleece.

Scheibler said it was important for the relief effort but also important for the students to do something tangible. "Dropping a check in the mail is great and we are doing that, but it's so impersonal,” said Scheibler. “These blankets are literally something our students own, maybe even slept on as children." The students packed up the blankets and shipped them to ATC (aid org in Sri Lanka).
