History repeats itself again, as two MSOE construction management student teams were judged the best in a regional, industry-sponsored construction management competition Oct. 28 and 29 in Downers Grove, Ill.
The MSOE teams took first in the Great Lakes Region in both the Commercial Construction and Design-Build categories for the second year in a row. It is the sixth victory for the Commercial team and fourth for the Design-Build. Since the competition's inception, the commercial team has never lost in the regional competition.
The students, who are enrolled in MSOE's B.S. in Construction Management and B.S. in Architectural Engineering programs, faced teams from throughout the Midwest including Purdue, Cincinnati, Michigan Tech, Indiana State, Southern Illinois, Bowling Green and Ferris State. What makes this competition so special is that it tests directly and realistically what the students will be required to do professionally after graduation.
The annual contest was part of the Associated Schools of Construction's Regional Conference, organized by Associated General Contractors of America.
