MSOE and FAA sign partnership agreement

Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) today signed an agreement that will allow students enrolled in MSOE's B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology program to work for the FAA.

The partnership, under the FAA's Airway Facilities Collegiate Training Initiative, allows students to work in internships at FAA facilities supporting the nation's air traffic control and navigational systems and increases their opportunities for full-time employment with the agency after graduation.

"We're pleased that the FAA recognized the quality of our program and chose to enter into this agreement with the university, said Dr. Edward Chandler, MSOE's Electrical Engineering Technology program director. "It will be of benefit to both the students and FAA." The certification follows an intensive FAA review of the program that considers the quality of the curriculum, classroom and laboratory facilities as well as on-site interviews with faculty and students.

Elizabeth Cory of the FAA's Public Affairs Office said the partnership allows the FAA to consider MSOE graduates as potential employees from a well-trained pool of applicants.

"There is a critical and growing demand for qualified technical staff in the FAA," said Cory. "We believe our partnership with MSOE will help meet that demand."
