MSOE honors its outstanding faculty and staff

Several Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) faculty and staff recently were recognized for their distinguished service to the university at an awards dinner in April:

Rick Gagliano, director of student activities at MSOE, recently received the Johanna Seelhorst Werwath Distinguished Staff Award. Gagliano holds a bachelor's degree in education and political science from UW-Milwaukee and completed graduate coursework at UW-LaCrosse. His areas of interest include politics and is currently in the FBI Citizens' Academy. He has been at MSOE for 8 years and has been working in higher education for 21 years. He lives in West Milwaukee, Wis.

Dr. George Lephardt, a specialist in economics, recently received MSOE's Oscar Werwath Distinguished Teacher Award, for his dedication to the profession of teaching. Lephardt is a professor in MSOE's Rader School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in economics and finance from the University of Tennessee, a master's in economics from UW-Milwaukee, and a bachelor's degree in economics from University of Delaware. He lives in Brookfield, Wis.

Dr. Edward Chandler was recently awarded MSOE's prestigious Karl O. Werwath Engineering Research Award, for his outstanding research in the areas of communication networks, satellite communications, modulation and coding techniques, and methods for multiple-access communications. Chandler is a professor in MSOE's Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department and is program director for Electrical Engineering Technology. He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Purdue University, a master's in electrical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from UW-Milwaukee. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin. He lives in Glendale, Wis.
