MCAA team takes second in nation

A team of MSOE students took second place in the national Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) Student Chapter competition.

More than 20 schools presented proposals including the building systems choice, cost, schedule and project management plan to the national committee. Only the top four schools, including MSOE, presented their proposal at the MCAA Annual Convention in Palm Desert, Calif., in March. The students provided a proposal for the mechanical systems for a real-life project; in this year's case it was the J.F. Ahern expansion project in Fond du Lac, Wis. As the national runner-up, the MSOE team received a trophy and $2,500 for their efforts. The team was advised by Blake Wentz, assistant professor, in the Architectural Engineering and Building Construction Department. First place was taken by The University of Washington.
