MSOE earns national service award

In February, MSOE joined the "best of the best" in yet another category - national and community service - by winning a place on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for 2007.

"We look to institutions like these to provide leadership ... to shape the civic, democratic and economic future of our country," said U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings.

Launched in 2006, the award recognizes extraordinary contributions to service in the school's communities. Winning universities were selected on factors such as scope and innovation of service projects, percentage of student participation, incentives for service and the extent the school offers service-learning courses.

MSOE's exemplary community service record reflects the quality of the students, 722 of whom gave 20,616 hours to the betterment of humankind. Such service shows that MSOE students are dedicated to academics, their personal futures - and also the future of their community!
