Bid for championship ends in Oshkosh

Despite a heartfelt effort, the MSOE men’s basketball team will not advance to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship after being defeated 78-56 by University of Wisconsin -- Oshkosh Thursday night. Adam Lewis led MSOE (13-16) in scoring with 25 points, a game high and Lewis’ final collegiate game. MSOE’s Jeff Mikos chipped in 10 points.

The team’s phenomenal performance against UW-Oshkosh, which is ranked 15 according to D3Hoops.com, was cheered on by a large MSOE contingent in the stands, including students, staff, alumni, faculty and President and Mrs. Viets.

Two Matts hope to dominate mat this weekend

This weekend, MSOE’s two Matts hope to dominate the mat in Ada, Ohio, as wrestlers Matt Schoenherr and Matt Huset compete at the NCAA national tournament March 7 and 8. Schoenherr is ranked number eight in the nation, marking the first time an MSOE wrestler has received national ranking.

“If they are on their game, we could come home with some hardware,” said coach Kevin Morin. “If they lay an egg, we will come home with bruises.”

For the second year in a row, the wrestling team takes another honor – it has the highest GPA in the nation among all NCAA Division III wrestling teams.

Best of luck...
