MSOE freshman forward James Shipley (Oak Park, Ill.) entered the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) record book when he tallied five assists in MSOE’s 6-4 victory over Northland College on Friday, Jan. 31. Shipley, MSOE’s second leading scorer with 21 points on eight goals and 13 assists, tied the single game record for assists by matching Darryl Somerville of Findlay University.
Shipley’s record-tying performance earned him MCHA Rookie-of-the-Week honors for the second time in three weeks. The five assists were on goals by linemates Andy Eisch, who recorded a three-goal hat trick, and Jake Basten, who netted two goals Friday night.
