Kong Vang, a senior at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), finished in second place at the national Future Business Leaders of America / Phi Beta Lambda business competitions held in Atlanta June 21-24. Vang, a software engineering major, competed in the desktop application programming event. In April he finished in first place in the state competition to qualify for the nationals. He served the past year as vice president of the MSOE Business Leaders Association (MBLA) sponsored by the Rader School of Business.
Three other MBLA students joined Vang at the national competition: Brian Kujawa, business major and president elect of MBLA; Raleigh Illgen, computer engineering major; and Anthony Pleshek, software engineering major. They qualified at the state level and competed at nationals in the following events: client services, computer concepts and networking concepts.
Nearly 4,000 college and high school students attended the national conference. The Rader School of Business and MBLA have been affiliated with FBLA/PBL since 2006. Membership in MBLA is open to all majors. Advisors include Professor Carol Mannino and Dr. Steven C. Bialek.
