David Tietyen Named Director of Business Excellence Consortium at MSOE

David Tietyen Named Director of Business Excellence Consortium at MSOE      Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) has named David Tietyen as director of the Business Excellence Consortium. An adjunct professor in the Rader School of Business at MSOE, Tietyen has been with the university for 18 years. Most recently he served as the marketing coordinator for the working professional studies program at MSOE, and as the coordinator of the Bachelor of Science in Management program.

     The Business Excellence Consortium (BEC) is MSOE's center for business solutions. It provides organizations with the expertise that leads to exceptional performance, more competitive outcomes and outstanding customer relations. Clients come from the engineering, manufacturing and technology, health care, construction, business and services, and information technology industries.  
    In his new role as director of the BEC, Tietyen is responsible for overseeing course offerings and certificate programs that the BEC offers to its clients and working professionals, in addition to developing new programs. Current course topics include lean, project management, Six Sigma, quality, safety, and simulation.
     Tietyen holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from UW-Milwaukee and a master's in business administration from UCLA. In 1998 he was awarded the MSOE Part-time teacher award. Tietyen and his wife Yvonne live in Germantown, Wis.  

MSOE is an independent university with about 2,500 students. MSOE offers 17 bachelor's degrees and 10 master's degrees in the engineering, engineering technology, architectural engineering and building construction, computer, business and health-related fields.
