Two join MSOE Regents, 11 corporation members added

Two join MSOE Regents, 11 corporation members added John Cain and Wolfgang A. Schmidt recently were elected to the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Board of Regents.

John CainJohn Cain is president and chief executive officer of Scot Forge Company located in Spring Grove, Ill. The company, which started as a small Chicago hammer shop in 1893, is a 100 percent employee owned manufacturer of custom open die and rolled ring forgings. Cain started his career at Scot Forge in 1978 and has held a variety of positions, including supervisor, plant manager, vice president COO and president and CEO, 2001-present. Scot Forge operates with more than one million square feet of manufacturing space in five plants, and more than 250 million pounds of forgings are shipped from the company every year.

Wolfgang SchmidtWolfgang A. Schmidt, president of W.A. Schmidt & Partners, received his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. He completed research on the security policies of neutral countries on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense in Switzerland, and published documents on the security policies of Sweden and Finland. Dr. Schmidt chaired the Advisory Board of the Institute of World Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He formerly owned a manufacturing business, allowing him to work abroad and gain international management experience. He is very active in the non-profit community, with a focus on education and international affairs.

MSOE also welcomed 11 new corporation members, three of whom are alumni:

  • Scott R. Haag, president, Moore Oil
  • Thomas R. Jacobson, vice president, operations, Bruno Independent Living Aids
  • Thomas L. Kassouf, president/owner, Snap-On
  • Patrick D. Keller, vice president of engineering, Harley Davidson
  • David A. Klante, Sr., vice president of engineering & packaging, Miller Coors
  • Craig A. McArton, president and CEO, FABCO
  • David A. Selby '79, '00, president and CEO, Milwaukee Electric Tool Co.
  • David C. Westgate, president and CEO, Jason Inc.
