Dan Harris to be inducted to WSCA Hall of Fame

Dan Harris, athletics director for Milwaukee School of
Engineering (MSOE), will be inducted into the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches
Association Hall of Fame on Feb. 21. Harris is being recognized for his many
contributions to the Milwaukee soccer community, and will be among the first
class inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Harris is
well-known and highly regarded in Milwaukee intercollegiate athletics. He has
served as the director of athletics at MSOE since 1995. Previously he was
director of athletics at Concordia University-Wisconsin and UW-Milwaukee;
assistant professor of physical education at the Air Force Academy; and
director of athletics at Nathan Hale-Ray High School in Connecticut.
Harris also
has coached countless teams at Nathan Hale Ray High School, Air Force Academy,
UW-Milwaukee and Concordia University. His total soccer coaching record for
high school and college teams is 265-118-25. Harris received his coaching
license from the U.S. Soccer Federation in 1970.
In the late
1970s, Harris founded the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association along with
fellow Hall of Fame inductee Tony Ansems. Other inductees include Richard
Williams and Willi Wessels. Harris has been a member of and/or served on the
boards of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, National
Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association; Wisconsin Soccer Association,
Milwaukee Kickers, Soccer USA, Lake Michigan Conference Soccer Coaches
Committee and Northern Athletics Conference. He was assistant director of the
Rocky Mountain Soccer Camp. Harris was director of Medalist Soccer Camps at St.
John’s Military Academy and eventually took over ownership of the camp with
Jimmy Banks, and named it the Dan Harris-Jimmy Banks World Cup Soccer Camp.
This will be
the fifth time Harris will be inducted into a hall of fame. He is a member of
the Wisconsin Soccer Association Hall of Fame (1997); Nathan Hale Ray High
School Hall of Fame in Connecticut (1999); Concordia Hall of Fame (2002); and
UW-Milwaukee Hall of Fame (2004).
