ASME Student Professional Development Conference

     More than 150 students from 19 universities will converge on the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) campus for the annual Student Professional Development Conference sponsored by District C of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) on Friday, April 17. Students will tour local companies, participate in peer review sessions and oral competitions and more.

     Highlights of the event include a Career Fair with representatives from Generac Power Systems, Silgan Containers Manufacturing, FedEx SmartPost, Walt Disney Company, Milwaukee Electric Tool, U.S Navy and General Metalworks. The Design Competition features robots designed by 28 teams to collect rocks on the planet Mars.

     Students who win the oral competition, the poster competition, and the robot design challenge will move on to the international championships to be held at AMSE's 2009 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition in November.

     MSOE is an independent university with 2,600 students. MSOE offers 17 bachelor's degrees and nine master's degrees in the engineering, engineering technology, architectural engineering and building construction, computer, business and health-related fields.
