MSOE qualifies 13 students for national business competitions

Strong performance marked Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Rader School of Business' third year of competition at the 42nd Annual Wisconsin Future Business Leaders of America / Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA/PBL) Conference held April 17-18 in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
MSOE students from several majors won first place in five events and finished in second or third place in 15 other competition categories. In total, students received awards in 20 of the 43 events administered at the state conference. Competitions included both written examinations and judged demonstrations in business and information technology subjects.
The state conference and competitions served as a qualifying round for the FBLA/PBL National Conference, June 20-23, 2009, in Anaheim, Calif. By virtue of placing first, second or third in their events, 13 of 16 MSOE students attending the Wisconsin Dells conference have qualified for the national competitions this summer.

Networking Concepts, Information Technology: Anthony Pleshek (SE) - 1st place

More than 120 college students attended the Wisconsin Dells conference. The 16 students representing MSOE are members of MSOE's Business Leaders Association (MBLA), a student organization open to all MSOE majors. Several Wisconsin business schools were represented at the state conference including UW-Madison, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Whitewater, and Ripon College. The Rader School of Business and MBLA have been affiliated with Future Business Leaders of America / Phi Beta Lambda since 2006. Advisors include Professor Kristin Shebesta and Dr. Steven C. Bialek.
