Congratulations to MSOE's Spring Class of 2009. More than 300 undergraduate and 14 graduate students in engineering majors, the Rader School of Business and the School of Nursing received their diplomas May 23. They join the ranks of more than 19,000 alumni worldwide.
Gary A. Stimac delivered the keynote address and received an Honorary Doctor of Engineering during MSOE's Commencement. He told MSOE's new graduates, "I'm exactly like you, only a few years later. The best investment I made was my investment at MSOE. It was a great leaping point. Continue to surround yourself with smart and accomplished people, and don't be afraid to take risks."
Stimac graduated from MSOE with honors in 1973 and received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. After graduation he worked as an electrical engineer at Texas Instruments. Ten years later, he helped establish Compaq Computer Corp, and in 1998 Stimac founded Compaq's server business. Stimac started a high-tech company in 1999 called RLX Technologies and helped to develop the first industry blade servers. Stimac is a member of the MSOE Board of Regents and received the Outstanding Alumnus Award in 1999 for his dedication to, and support of, MSOE.
