Graduate management students at MSOE's Rader School of Business scored in the top 10 percent on a standardized test that measures business and management aptitude. The Major Field Test for MBA's offered by the Educational Testing Service measures graduate students' knowledge in five content areas: marketing, management, finance, managerial accounting, and strategic integration. Students took the test during the Spring Quarter 2009.
The Rader School of Business administers the MBA test to students completing a 27-credit sequence of foundation courses required in each of its graduate management programs that include: Master of Science in Engineering Management, Master of Science in Marketing & Export Management and Master of Science in New Product Management.
In addition to MSOE's top 10 composite score, MSOE graduate students earned high marks in each of the five content areas. Percentile scores in each subject area represent the percentage of all test takers who scored below MSOE: (1) marketing - 75th percentile, (2) management - 95th percentile, (3) finance - 95th percentile, (4) managerial accounting - 90th percentile, and (5) strategic integration - 90th percentile.
The MBA test has been used by nearly 200 universities to assess the effectiveness of their academic programs. Those institutions include Butler University, Embry-Riddle University, Indiana University, Kettering University, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Nebraska, and University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. Over 19,000 graduate students have taken the MBA test.
