SAE wins Outstanding Collegiate Branch award


     MSOE’s student chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) was the Class 1 recipient of the 2010 SAE Honeywell Outstanding Collegiate Branch Award. This award recognizes SAE Collegiate Branches for exemplary performance in the areas of technical meetings, networking opportunities, Collegiate Design SeriesTM competitions, promoting SAE membership and community service programs.

 SAE Officers 2010-11    The group was recognized during the SAE 2011 World Congress in April in Detroit. They received a plaque and $1,000 award. With 110 student members, MSOE’s SAE student chapter is the third largest in the world. Chapter officers are Paul Gessler, program coordinator/webmaster; Sven Krause, fundraising coordinator; Jacob London, vice chairperson/treasurer; Travis Malouf, senior design liaison; Marshall Schaeffer, secretary; and Alex Zelhofer, chairperson. Dr. Christopher Damm is the group’s advisor.

     MSOE is an independent university with 2,600 students. MSOE offers 18 bachelor’s degrees and 10 master’s degrees in the engineering, engineering technology, building and infrastructure engineering, health-related engineering, computer, business and nursing fields.
