Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) presented two of its annual faculty awards to recognize outstanding full-time and part-time faculty members.
The Falk Engineering Educator Award was presented to Dr. Yvonne Yaz, professor in the Mathematics Department. The award is given annually to a full-time faculty member with less than seven years experience. It is a testament to exemplary dedication and performance. Yaz received bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics, and a master's degree in mathematics
from Bosphorus University in Istanbul, Turkey. She earned a Ph.D. in mathematics control theory from the University of Arkansas.
David Gerow, adjunct associate professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department, received the Johnson Controls Award, presented to outstanding part-time faculty. The award was inspired by Robert C. Moore, a long-time faculty member in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department. Gerow earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from MSOE and his master's degree in engineering mechanics from UW-Milwaukee.
MSOE is an independent university with about 2,600 students. MSOE offers 17 bachelor's degrees and nine master's degrees in the engineering, engineering technology, architectural engineering and building construction, computer, business and health-related fields.
