The annual Career Fair at MSOE is Friday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Campus Center building, 1025 N. Broadway. More than 100 employers are expected to attend.
"Employers are starting the recruitment process early because the talent pool shrinks as we approach the second half of the academic year," said Mary Spencer, MSOE's director of career placement. "Employers are also continuing to grow their talent by hiring interns and offering incentives to keep them on board full-time after graduation."
MSOE's engineering, nursing and business students are in demand despite tough economic times, and companies are looking to hire young talent to help bring them out of the recession. MSOE students come with an educational background that is strongly integrated in theory and applications which employers value. Students spend an average of 600 hours in high-tech, industrial grade labs, gaining real-world experience during their college career. There is no shock value or learning curve for MSOE students - they are able to contribute and start working immediately when they begin their internships and jobs, setting them apart from students at other universities.
Employers are looking for seniors, juniors, sophomores and even freshmen to fill internship and employment positions. Many of the internships turn into full-time employment once the student graduates from MSOE. Graduates are well-rounded, technologically experienced and highly productive professionals and Leaders. They enjoy a 98 percent placement rate and an average starting salary of more than $52,000.
MSOE is an independent university with about 2,600 students. MSOE offers 17 bachelor's degrees and nine master's degrees in the engineering, engineering technology, architectural engineering and building construction, computer, business and health-related fields.
