Dr. Bass Abushakra receives honor

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes members of ASHRAE who have served the society faithfully and with distinction on committees or otherwise given freely of their time and talent on behalf of the Society. This award is based on a tally of points for members' service activities, including serving as an officer or board member, on a committee, as a speaker and more. Qualifying members come from ASHRAE Chapters in the United States, the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.
Dr. Abushakra will receive the award, along with other recipients, during a plenary session in June at the 2010 ASHRAE Annual Conference in Albuquerque, N.M.
Dr. Abushakra received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from American University of Beirut, master's degree in building engineering from Concordia University, and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University. His teaching at MSOE focuses mostly in building environmental systems, and he is the faculty advisor for MSOE's student chapter of ASHRAE.
