Dr. Roger Frankowski to deliver "Last Lecture"

All are invited to hear Dr. Roger Frankowski, MSOE vice president of academics give a final lecture. On Tuesday, May 18 at 6 p.m., Frankowski will kick off MSOE's new "Last Lecture" series in the Todd Wehr Auditorium at 1047 N. Broadway. In what the university plans to be an annual event, one member of the staff or faculty will be invited to pass on their greatest and most succinct knowledge and life-experiences to the MSOE community. Frankowski will reflect on his time at MSOE and also share what he believes to be the most important facets of his life experiences and accomplishments.
Frankowski is retiring from MSOE on July 31 after 42 years of service to the university. He joined the MSOE faculty in 1968, and in 2002 was appointed vice president of academics, after serving as chairman of the General Studies Department for 21 years. During his career, Frankowski also served as the North Central Association-Higher Learning Commission (NCA-HLC) liaison, the faculty representative to the NCAA, chairman of the Athletic Appeals Committee, and as an advisor to Tau Omega Mu, Tau Iota Epsilon and the Foreign Students Association.
In 1986, he traveled to Washington, D.C. to help present Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees to then Vice President and Mrs. George H. W. Bush. Frankowski has an undergraduate degree in history and political science, a master's in history, and both a master's and doctorate in education administration and supervision, all from Marquette University.
Frankowski has received several awards including the MSOE Oscar Werwath Distinguished Teacher Award in 1981, the MSOE Outstanding Mentor Award in 1991, Salgo-Noren Outstanding Educator in 1973, Outstanding Educators in America in 1974 and Outstanding Young Men in America in 1972.
Frankowski is a member of the Milwaukee County Historical Society, American Society for Engineering Education, Society for Technical Communication and Association for Psychological Type. He has served on the Executive Board of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) of Southeast Wisconsin, the Bucyrus-Erie Scholarship Award Committee, and the MSOE Athletics Hall of Fame Committee.
