MSOE was again among U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges and Universities in the country. Broken out by region, MSOE ranked 10th Best Undergraduate College in the Midwest among colleges that focus on undergraduate education.
MSOE was ranked 11th in the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs category, among colleges whose highest degree is a bachelor's or master's.
Also, MSOE's B.S. in Industrial Engineering degree was ranked 4th among Engineering Specialties category.
Industrial engineering is a highly "people-oriented" profession. Industrial engineers determine the most effective ways for an organization to use its various resources - people, systems, materials, procedures, information, equipment and energy.
While most industrial engineers work for manufacturing companies, they are increasingly found in every business - financial, health care, agricultural, governmental, wholesale and retail trade, transportation, construction and entertainment.
Last year, all (100%) of MSOE's graduates from the Industrial Engineering program found jobs in their field upon graduation with an average starting salary of $50,500.
About the rankings:
MSOE officials noted that while the survey results are very gratifying, results should not be overemphasized by students or their families during the college selection process. Choosing a college is an individual decision that should be made by students and families based on the student's individual needs. MSOE is not for every student, but it is an ideal choice for ambitious students who recognize that rigorous academic challenges lead to personal and professional success.
