  • MSOE to dedicate Kern Center with the snip of a ribbon, open house (10/20/2004) The doors to MSOE’s 210,000 square-foot Kern Center officially open Friday, Oct. 29 with a 5:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting dedication, followed by lots of tours, demonstrations, open ice skating and a home hockey game. The Grand Opening continues Saturday, Oct. 30, with an all-day Open House for the entire community.
  • Gallery Night to feature Bridges exhibit on Autobahn construction (10/08/2004) MSOE will host an exhibition called Bridges during the citywide Gallery Night and Day Oct. 15 and 16. It will feature 16 works portraying the powerful beauty of the design and engineering innovations of the original German Autobahn, which provided a strong influence on other nations to design similar transport systems.
  • Cappiello to give pre-election financial forecast for 2005 (09/28/2004) Frank Cappiello, an expert on the national economy and a recognized authority on investments, will give his pre-election outlook for 2005 at MSOE’s annual Bottom Line Breakfast 7:30-9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1. Cappiello will discuss November’s election and other factors that are sure to weigh on next year’s financial outlook.

  • MSOE Nursing program receives re-accreditation, fall enrollment largest yet (07/01/2004) The MSOE School of Nursing's B.S. in Nursing degree program has been re-accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The program, which began offering its first classes in fall 1995, has been steadily growing, with a record number of new nursing students registered this fall.

  • MSOE concrete canoe takes fifth at national competition (06/22/2004) After nearly a year of preparation and an eight-hundred mile journey to the nation's capital, MSOE students took fifth in the National Concrete Canoe Competition.
  • Ruud gift brightens Student Campus Center (06/18/2004) MSOE has received an in-kind gift from Ruud Lighting Inc. and Dr. Alan J. Ruud, a 1969 alumnus and professional engineer. The new lighting fixtures can be seen hanging in the Cudahy Student Center (1025 N. Broadway, 3rd floor), replacing the previous lights.

  • MSOE honors M&I chairman at spring commencement (05/03/2004) MSOE’s Spring Commencement is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22 at Marcus Center for the Performing Arts in Milwaukee. James Wigdale, chairman of the board of Marshall & Ilsley Corp., will give the keynote address and receive an honorary Doctor of Business degree.

  • MSOE Aero design team recaptures its gold luster in Florida (04/21/2004) Competing against college engineering teams from around the world, MSOE recaptured its title at the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Aero Design East competition. The team won the Open Class Division for the radio-controlled aircraft they designed and built, then pushed to its limits – and beyond.

  • Area colleges host first national wacky machine contest for teens (04/15/2004) It’s an assignment tailor-made for teenagers: make a simple task as complicated as possible. High school teams from five Midwest states will gather Friday, April 30 at State Fair Park to compete in the first-ever national Rube Goldberg Machine-Building Contest Contest™© for teens. The seventh annual Wisconsin Rube Goldberg Contest for high school students is held the same day.
  • Gallery Night features more Man at Work collection highlights; commissioned painting on display (04/14/2004) MSOE’s art collection, Man at Work, will be a featured exhibition during the citywide Spring Gallery Night and Day 5-9 p.m. Friday, April 16 and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 17. A newly commissioned work, The Iron Rolling Mill, by German artist Hans Dieter Tylle will be a highlighted painting.

The accompanying meal will include southern fried crawdaddy cocktail, cornbread chicken salad, BBQ beef brisket and shoefly pie.
  • MSOE workshop introduces rapid technologies to manufacturing (03/18/2004) NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED BY SME MSOE invites companies to get a “first look” at recent advancements in rapid prototyping technology at an April 21 workshop. It will help companies take a new look at the technology and receive the information needed to evaluate rapid technologies based on business and technical criteria.

  • MSOE construction management team takes first in national contest (03/13/2004) An MSOE team took first place in the National Construction Management Student Competition this weekend, beating out college teams from across the country. Another MSOE team took third place in the Associated General Contractors (AGC)-sponsored event held in Orlando, Fla.
  • Schoenherr earns NCAA All-American status (03/10/2004) MSOE senior wrestler Matt Schoenherr, the three-time NCAA Division III National Tournament qualifier, became MSOE’s second wrestler and second male athlete to gain NCAA All-American status.
  • MSOE Announces Winter Dean's List (03/10/2004) Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) has released its Winter Quarter Dean's List. Students on the Dean's List have earned a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 (out of 4.0) and have completed a minimum of 30 credits.
  • MSOE wrestling team earns top GPA in nation for third year in a row (03/09/2004) For the third year in a row, the MSOE wrestling team was lauded for having the highest GPA in the nation among all NCAA Division III wrestling teams. The team's 3.73 GPA was the highest in the award's history.

  • MSOE tops off Kern Center, Project shaping into jewel of downtown, Park East neighborhood (02/26/2004) MSOE will celebrate a major milestone of its Kern Center project, with a topping-off ceremony noon-1 p.m. Monday, March 1. It marks the end of major framing work for the 210,000-square-foot recreation, athletic, health and wellness center.

  • Wrestler Schoenherr advances to third NCAA III national tournament (02/24/2004) Senior wrestler Matt Schoenherr advances to the NCAA Division III National Wrestling Tournament for the third time, after finishing second in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The national tournament is slated for March 5 and 6 in Dubuque, Iowa.
  • MSOE names first Uihlein Spitzer chair appointment (02/12/2004) Businessman and entrepreneur G. Woodrow Adkins has been appointed the first holder of the Uihlein/Spitzer Chair of Entrepreneurship in the MSOE Rader School of Business. The new position will help students learn entrepreneurism and establish business ventures.
  • WMSE to host annual Music Meltdown (02/10/2004) Radio station WMSE is now seeking vendors for the annual Music Meltdown rummage sale April 10 at MSOE's Todd Wehr Conference Center; space is limited.
  • High school students test mettle at regional math and science bowl (02/04/2004) Results are in from the regional section of the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl competition, hosted Feb. 1 by MSOE.
  • MSOE honors leading surgeon at Winter Commencement (02/02/2004) Dr. Alfred Tector, one of the nation’s leading thoracic transplant surgeons, will give the keynote address and receive an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree at Milwaukee School of Engineering’s Winter Commencement Feb. 28.
