- $1.3 million NIH grant awarded to MSOE (12/21/2005) Avian flu. SARS. Anthrax. Youve seen them in the news, but now high school science teachers and their students across the country will study these molecular stories in the classroom, thanks to a grant awarded to MSOE's Center for BioMolecular Modeling. The grant is one of only 12 awards made in 2005.
- Newly elected Regents will help guide MSOE (12/16/2005) MSOE welcomes three to its Board of Regents and 11 to its Corporation; these leaders will help shape the university's future.
- MSOE Exhibition Depicts Change from Rural to Urban (12/14/2005) Through the works of 16 European artists, Changing Skylines: From Rural to Industrial, 1845 to 1963 portrays the dramatic impact of industry on once rural skylines. The exhibition opens Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, 5 to 9 p.m. as part of Gallery Night.

- MSOE Announces 2005 Fall Dean's List (11/29/2005) Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) has released its Fall Quarter Dean's List. Students on the Dean's List have earned a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 (out of 4.0) and have completed a minimum of 30 credits.
- MSOE students will record seals underwater conversation (11/21/2005) What do seals say to each other while underwater? Three MSOE engineering students intend to find out by using a hydrophone, an underwater microphone at the Milwaukee County Zoo on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m.
- Two-time National Fellow to Speak at MSOE Commencement Saturday (11/18/2005) MSOE will hold its Fall 2005 Commencement 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 at MSOEs Kern Center (1245 N. Broadway). About 70 students will walk across the stage to receive their diplomas and Matthew W. Fuchs, P.E., will be the guest speaker and recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Engineering degree at the ceremony.
- MSOE students take first place at regional construction competition (11/04/2005) Two MSOE teams took first place in their competitions at the Great Lakes Regional Construction Management Competition from Oct. 27-29, 2005.The Commercial Team and the Design Build Team will advance to the national competition to be held in the spring, slated for March 6-9, 2006.
- MSOE Receives Donation of Excavator from Gehl Co. (10/31/2005) Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) received the donation of a compact excavator from the Gehl Co. to be used by faculty and students for future research.
- MSOE hosts benefit concert for Pakistan (10/14/2005) MSOE is organizing and hosting a concert Saturday, Oct. 22 to benefit victims of the recent earthquake in Pakistan, featuring Midwestern-based, seven-piece outfit, Eastern Passions. The band comprises artists who are originally from Pakistan, United States and India and play rich songs evoking life in South Asia, sung in Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi and Siraiki.
- Kern Center welcomes marathon runners and pro hockey this weekend (09/28/2005) Participants in Milwaukee's Lakefront Marathon will pick up their packets and attend a fitness expo at MSOEs Kern Center Friday, Sept. 30 (4-7 p.m.) and Saturday, Oct. 1 (9 a.m.-6 p.m.). Also Saturday, the Kern Center Ice Arena hosts the Milwaukee Admirals vs. Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m.
- Regional energy sustainability focus of MSOE 05-06 symposia series (09/15/2005) Electricity -- 2005 Baseline and Trends is the topic of first symposium in a series on Regional Energy Sustainability sponsored by MSOE. The program is 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005.
- Restaurants again support independent radio in Milwaukee (09/15/2005) Nearly 30 restaurants will cook their favorite dishes for the fifth annual WMSE Food Slam 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, including Hotel Metro, Bremen Café, Lava, The Melting Pot, Third Street Pier, Sala da Pranzo and LuLu Café and Bar.
- Admission to volleyball triangular is food donations (09/13/2005) A canned food drive to benefit the evacuees of Hurricane Katrina will be held Friday, Sept. 16, as part of the MSOE Triangular Women's Volleyball match.
- MSOE offers business degree with new engineering studies concentration (09/13/2005) MSOEs Rader School of Business is offering an engineering studies concentration for its Bachelor of Science in Business degree program, wherein students will learn fundamental engineering concepts in addition to a business education. It is the first such program in Wisconsin that combines business with engineering.
- MSOE cares with blankets, infant supplies, and culturally sensitive food (09/09/2005) MSOE students continue their effort to help hurricane Katrina victims, from blanket and food drives to water purification aid. The student groups cooperating in this effort are many and varied, proving once again that MSOE students are a students are a breed apart!
- MSOE named a 2006 Best College in the Midwestern Region by The Princeton Review (09/07/2005) MSOE is one of 158 schools on The Princeton Reviews Best Colleges: Region by Region list, receiving its Best in the Midwest designation.
- After 26 years, WMSEs Voice of Italy radio show says arrivaderci Sunday (09/06/2005) Giorgio Argondizzo will host the final installment of the long-running Voice of Italy radio show 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, on WMSE 91.7 FM.
- MSOE back-to-school includes archbishop convocation and hurricane relief efforts (09/02/2005) MSOE welcomes Archbishop of Milwaukee Timothy Dolan Sunday in his first convocation at any Milwaukee university campus. Classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 6 and students will set to work helping hurricane victims.

- MSOE again on U.S. News Best Colleges list (08/19/2005) MSOE's engineering programs again rank among the top colleges in the annual U.S.News & World Report list of best colleges and universities in the country.
- Science to be portrayed through art (08/18/2005) MSOE's newly acquired art museum building won't be open for some time until renovations are complete. In the meantime, the university will continue to display portions of its nearly 600-piece art collection, Man at Work, comprising paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures depicting various forms of work. This fall's exhibition, opening for the citywide Gallery Night on Friday, Oct. 21, will be a show that features The Fascinating Art of Science.
- MSOE beefs-up fluid power faculty to keep pace with demand for professional education (08/09/2005) MSOE's Applied Technology Center has hired an additional professional education instructor who will teach courses in fluid power and motion control to industry professionals, as well as participate in research through MSOEs Fluid Power Institute®.
- WMSE and Eisner museum host blues concert, exhibit (07/27/2005) Radio station WMSE 91.7 FM and the Eisner Museum of Advertising & Design are teaming up to get folks to think about the intertwined relationship of art and music. They co-host a display of local artists design work and a night of Milwaukees best blues bands.
- MSOE hosts retrospective of German artist during Night & Day (07/25/2005) MSOE's summer Gallery Night & Day show is offering something different a huge sports-related painting in a different setting, the university's Kern Center. The specially commissioned 14-by-19-foot oil painting is the centerpiece of a retrospective exhibition of works by German artist Hans Dieter Tylle.
- MSOE acquires home for its art collection (07/14/2005) MSOE has purchased with donated funds the former Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago building downtown. The three-story, 38,000-square-foot building at the northeast corner of Broadway and State Street will provide space to display MSOEs art collection, Man at Work, as well as faculty offices.
- Grab a crepe and enjoy bit of French culture (07/14/2005) MSOE will again host a booth at Bastille Days (daytime hours) July 14-17, which is held in and around Cathedral Square, just outside of our front door (and on Werwath Mall). Theyll have information on MSOE at the booth along with a Web cam and the SAE Formula car. Radio station WMSE 91.7 fm, owned and operated by MSOE, will also have a booth at the event. - New baseball coach announced (07/13/2005) Troy Doering is the new head mens baseball coach, successor to MSOE legend Len VandenBoom.
- 53 student-athletes named to conference All-Academic team (07/13/2005) MSOE announces that 53 students have made the Lake Michigan Conference All-Academic team for the 2004-2005 season.
- MSOE publishes art book featuring 17th-century health care practices (07/06/2005) MSOE has published a book of 17th-century paintings depicting village doctors, healers, quacks and alchemists performing their services with varying degrees of competence.
- Thanks golfers! (06/22/2005) The 23rd annual Presidents Golf Outing on June 20 was again a rousing success, with 112 golfers and a beautiful summer day at Oconomowoc Golf Club. The event raised more than $50,000 for student scholarships. Thanks for the terrific support of our corporate sponsors, alumni and golfers.

- VandenBoom hangs up cleats after nearly 20 years coaching MSOE baseball (05/17/2005) MSOE Athletic Director Dan Harris announced that Len VandenBoom, baseball coach for 19 years and the universitys first athletic director, has retired from his head coaching duties.
- Shiely to deliver MSOE commencement address (05/17/2005) More than 325 students will walk across a special round, rotating stage and receive their degrees at MSOEs Spring Commencement 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21 at MSOEs Kern Center. John S. Shiely, chairman, president and CEO of Briggs & Stratton Corp., will be the guest speaker and receive an honorary degree.
- WMSE spring drive begins Friday (05/05/2005) Tune in to WMSE 91.7 FM this Friday at 9 a.m. as the Spring Membership Drive kicks off and listen throughout the week for live music by local to national acts who'll drop into the MSE studio.

It's the first time that one university took first in both categories of the contest.
- WMSE FM 91.7 celebrates anniversary with 24 Years, 24 Hours (03/08/2005) Milwaukees award-winning radio station WMSE FM 91.7 is celebrating its 24th anniversary March 17 with a special "24 Years, 24 Hours" celebration.
- Seven MSOE skaters make MCHS All-Academic squad (03/08/2005) The Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association announced its All-Academic team, and seven MSOE skaters earned the honor.
- Three grapplers join WCA Scholar All-American Team (03/08/2005) Three MSOE wrestlers were named to the 2005 NCAA Division III Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American Team and the Raiders squad won the team grade point average award for the fourth year in a row.

- Dont be left at the station during this weekends 40th Train Time at MSOE (03/01/2005) Model railroad buffs will want to make tracks to the MSOE campus March 5 and 6 for the 40th annual Train Time. The free event is one of the area's largest shows of model railroad layouts, vendors and displays.
- MSOE hockey captures its first Harris Cup (02/28/2005) The MSOE hockey team captured its first Harris Cup by taking a two-game series from Minnesota-Crookston at the Kern Center. The team finishes the season 20-8-0, the most wins since joining the MCHA eight years ago.
- MSOE wrestlers take LMC championship; Morin is Coach of the Year (02/14/2005) The Raiders claimed a second consecutive Lake Michigan Conference Championship, and fourth in five years, Friday night at the Kern Center.

- $1 million gift to MSOE helps infuse servant-leadership philosophy campus-wide (01/01/2005) With a $1 million gift from a local foundation, MSOE has established an endowed chairmanship to promote the concept of servant-leadership at the university. The new faculty position, The Pieper Family Endowed Chair for Servant-Leadership, was funded by the S&R Pieper Family Foundation.
