St. Pat’s tradition continues at MSOE

Published: March 6, 2006 Bookmark and Share

MSOE students again celebrate the patron saint of engineers, St. Patrick, with a whole week of wacky fun. Forget the green beer ...

The second annual Leprechaun Launch

Yep, five Greek teams build a big catapult and launch a leprechaun - whoever's leprechaun makes it in one piece, closest to the target, gets the glory. It was an instant tradition last year; let's see if the teams have improved their techniques. UWM teams might join us on Friday.

4 p.m. Friday, March 10 at House of Harley (6221 W. Layton Ave.)

2 p.m. Saturday, March 11 downtown at Pere Marquette Park

Annual Egg Drop - Heads-Up!

We have no idea how this tradition started or what it proves exactly, but it sure is fun. Participants are given a bag of household objects (marshmallows, toothpicks, egg carton and who-knows- what else) to fashion the best parachute for their egg, which will be tossed out a third-story walkway window.

12:30 p.m. Monday, March 13 at Werwath Mall (Kilbourn and Jefferson)

Beard Judging

We'll be judging who has the best beard -- real or fake. Beards are back in!

1 p.m. Monday, March 13 at Werwath Mall (Kilbourn and Jefferson)

Engineering O'lympics

Student teams come up with the best and fastest solution to some simple engineering tasks

6 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 at Cudahy Student Center (1025 N Broadway, floor 3)

Pot O'Gold Scavenger Hunt

Students scour downtown for clues to win a pot of gold worth at least $500 of the faculty and staff's money in this great tradition.

11 a.m. Saturday, March 18 begins at Cudahy Student Center (1025 N Broadway, floor 3)
