Anyone else having screen problems with their laptops? Mine turns black after boot up sometimes. I can see the screen with a flashlight so it's not dead, it just seems to be the chip that controls the back lighting.

Hey! I saw a girl yesterday in my time management session that had the same problem.  Sometimes it just needs to be plugged in.  Have you tried taking it to IT?

I have seen others with the problem as well and I plan to head to IT when I have a chance. I have a few hours tomorrow during which I have to change my schedule (tested out of precalc) and I'll stop at IT after that. It was almost unusable last night due to the problem but today it seems to be working fine but that could change again. Nice laptop otherwise thought :)

It's a common issue with these and previous laptops. You can take it in, but don't be surprised if it continues after you get it fixed....I have mine set to do nothing when I close the lid (doesn't going into sleep-mode). So when it goes black, all I have to do is close the lid and reopen it. Comes back every time. Other people put it to sleep and then try restarting again.

Thank you for the tips! I have taken adjusted those settings so hopefully I will have the same results :) Still going to take it to IT though because I have also had clicking dropout periods where I can move the mouse, type, do everything but click on anything using both the buttons and the touchpad. Talked to a few others who have had the same problem.

If it still is happening after you go to IT, I'd suggest trying to re-install the latest driver from the HP website. Sometimes that helps. Woth a shot because it can't hurt it. Hope the bugs get worked out though!
