When RYTEC needed help shrinking the width of its fast-open roll-up door, they came to MSOE. Four mechanical engineers stepped up to the challenge. They redesigned the door and were able to reduce its width from 14 inches to 8, saving about of a foot of usable space. That may not sound like much, but there are often ten or more doors side-by-side, so the savings add up. This project isn’t staying on campus, either. RYTEC liked the redesign so much that the new models will be available to purchase later this year.
