Class of 2014
“Don’t let things come to you, but instead go and find opportunities.”
Patrick made MSOE History when he took first place at the 2014 IIE (Institute of Industrial Engineering) Expo Annual International Conference. After qualifying through the regional conference, Patrick competed against nine other students from around the world to earn his first place title. His winning paper, entitled Supermarket Redesign: Demand-Driven Inventory Planning, was based on his senior design project.
With all of the great experiences Patrick had at MSOE he was able to become the new product development engineering intern at J.W. Speaker Corporation. He works in the Manufacturing Engineering Department and uses his skills to improve the front end of the assembly process.
“MSOE has prepared me very well for my future career. Advisors like Dr. Leah Newman, Dr. Charlene Yauch, and Dr. Aaron Armstrong have been with me ever since I switched over to the IE program in my freshman year,” said Patrick. “The hands-on classes that I experienced have proved to be invaluable for my success as a student and as an employee.”
In addition to academic success, Patrick was particularly active in student life on campus. He played soccer at MSOE for four years and was captain for two. Even after graduating, Patrick is passionate about staying involved on campus. He will be an assistant men’s soccer coach for two years as he works toward his Master of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM). Patrick says getting involved in soccer at MSOE “taught me great leadership skills that can’t be learned in the classroom, and have contributed to my success as a student and employee.” He advises all students to find opportunities and get the full college experience!
