Wednesday, November 20, 2013 is the International Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR).
The annual Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) memorializes transgender individuals who have died because of anti-transgender discrimination and victimization. A tradition inspired by the Allston, MA vigil in honor of Rita Hester in 1998, this day has become the worldwide rallying point for a community long under siege. No one should be subjected to violence simply because of their gender identity or expression.
The greater Milwaukee community will be honoring those who have lost their lives due to anti-transgender hate and/or violence on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 6:30pm at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center (1110. N Market Street, Second Floor, Milwaukee, WI 53202).
