On Thursday night, April 3, 2014, Dedicated Computing (http://www.dedicatedcomputing.com/) is sponsoring for you the second SE Night for the year. The agenda is still not entirely finalized, but there are two exciting things that we can share. First off, MSOE will be receiving the donation of a Xeon Phi supercomputer that will eventually be available for student use on projects and undergraduate research. The Xeon Phi is the same technology that is present in the world’s fastest supercomputer, the Tianhe-2. Second, Intel will be presenting a discussion on parallelization and its impact on software engineering. Effectively using multicores in software design is considered to be the next great challenge for software engineering. In addition, we will have the normal networking with alumni and industry representatives, senior design presentations, and a discussion from Dedicated Computing about building specialized software.
