Master of Science in Engineering Management

The Engineer's MBA

Studies have found that most successful organizations are managed by people with experience in the core business of the organization. In the case of technology-based companies, this means individuals with an engineering or technical background. Too often, the lack of solid management skills has prevented engineers from assuming top-level, decision-making positions.

For more than thirty years, MSOE has provided the management and leadership skills that prepare engineers to take on management challenges. The MSEM degree is as comprehensive as a traditional MBA, with the added benefit of being oriented to people working at the cusp of technology and management. Today, our graduates can be found in leadership positions, including top management roles.

Industry-focused
Your classroom experience focuses on the practical aspects of business. You will:

  • Engage in activities that deliver measurable benefits to an organization
  • Participate in group projects that strengthen team building and cohesiveness
  • Problem-solve situations that are common to businesses
  • Gain hands-on experience with business processes, such as Project Management, Lean and Six Sigma
  • Experience learning that can be applied the next day in your workplace

The same industry focus applies to our faculty, who have extensive industry experience. They bring a rich background of best practices into the classroom. They can relate management theory to real-world practices.

The MSOE Advantage
An MSOE master's degree is valued throughout the business world, whether it is locally, regionally, or nationally. That's because our graduates are accustomed to meeting uncompromising standards and delivering results.

Class sizes are small, typically fewer than 25 students, which gives you more personal interaction within the classroom.

Convenient Scheduling
You have several options when enrolling in the MSEM degree program. The more traditional approach is to take one or two classes a term. Classes meet one evening a week making it easier fit them into your schedule.

Another option is our Cohort program,  where classes meet one night per week and an occasional Saturday, allowing completion in two years. This approach also incorporates Internet delivery of course materials.

You also have a choice of locations as classes are available at MSOE's main campus in downtown Milwaukee, in state-of-the-art facilities in Waukesha, and in Neenah, serving Fox Valley students.
