English for Future Engineers


Who should enroll in English for Future Engineers?

High school students (ages 14-18) living in countries outside of the United States who are interested in improving their English and learning about a field of Engineering.

What will you do?

Live in the residence halls on MSOE’s campus with other high school students. Chaperones will be provided on each floor.

Attend one week of English courses (5 hours per day).  In your classes, you will:

  • Learn vocabulary terms to have everyday conversations and participate in future engineering classes
  • Experience American culture in and out of the classroom through activities such as a game of kickball, a scavenger hunt, or a trip to a local museum
  • Improve your listening and speaking skills

Attend one week of MSOE’s Summer Programs, where you will:

When will you arrive?

  • July 6-7, 2019: Move in to the residence halls
  • July 8, 2019: Begin English Classes
  • July 15, 2019: Begin Engineering Classes
  • July 19-20, 2019: Move out of the residence halls

What are the costs?

US $1,500

  • English Courses: $445
  • Engineering Courses: $545
  • Housing: $210
  • Food: $300 (Food not included on weekends)

American Experience


Who should enroll in the American Experience?

People living in countries outside of the United States who are interested in improving their English and experiencing American culture.

What will you do?

Attend six weeks of English courses (4 hours per day). In your classes, you will:

  • Participate in thematic lessons to improve your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills
  • Experience American culture in and out of the classroom through activities such as a game of kickball, a scavenger hunt, or a trip to a local museum
  • Enjoy summer in the vibrant midwestern city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin (90 minutes north of Chicago)!

When will you arrive?

  • July 6-7, 2019: Move in to the residence halls
  • July 8, 2019: Begin English Classes
  • August 16th: End English Classes
  • August 16th-17th: Move out of the residence halls

What are the costs?

US $2,000. Price includes tuition and activities during class time. Housing and meal plans are available at an additional cost.

Who should enroll in English for University Success?

International students who are planning to attend MSOE in the fall and want to refine their English skills, learn about a new academic culture, and experience summer in Milwaukee.

What will you do?

Attend six weeks of English courses (5 hours per day). In your classes, you will: 

  • Develop your English language skills to communicate clearly and confidently in a university environment
  • Experience American culture in and out of the classroom through activities such as a campus tour, a meeting with a future professor, or a trip to a local museum
  • Discover the expectations and culture of American university life

When will you arrive?

  • July 6-7, 2019: Move in to the residence halls or your off-campus housing
  • July 8, 2019: Begin English Classes
  • August 16th: End English Classes

What are the costs?

US $2,700. Price includes tuition and activities during class time. Housing and meal plans are available at an additional cost.
