MSOE alumni are invited to tour the PATH Control Center and learn about the federally mandated upgrade to the signal system called Positive Train Control (PTC) as well as the major projects in the works including rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey builds, operates, and maintains critical transportation and trade assets. Its network of aviation, rail, surface transportation and seaport facilities annually move millions of people and transports vital cargo throughout the New York/New Jersey region.

Travel: PATH Train, either 33rd Street Line or from WTC, to Journal Square Stop.

MSOE will be in town for the annual Rockwell Automation Fair Nov. 14-15. Join us as we kick off the fair with an alumni reception at the Field House fieldhousephilly.com, located inside the Pennsylvania Convention Center. All alumni, family and friends who live in the area or are in town for the event can reconnect over complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Eisenhower Memorial Construction Tour and Reception

MSOE alumni are invited to tour the Eisenhower Memorial Construction. Designed by the world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, the memorial encapsulates Eisenhower’s legacy in a four-acre urban park at the base of Capitol Hill. Gehry’s unique vision is a grand new civic space in the heart of the nation’s capital. The memorial features a one-of-a-kind stainless-steel tapestry depicting beaches of D-Day, heroic-sized bronze sculptures, and stone bas reliefs. Special thanks to Sami Wallace ’15, assistant superintendent, Clark Construction Group. Meet at 259 6th Street SW, Washington, DC. Travel: use L’Enfant Plaza Metro Stop. Exit at Maryland and 7th (follow the signs). Reception will follow with complimentary appetizers and cash bar at City Bar, 400 E. St. SW, Washington D.C.

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory 11100 Johns Hopkins Rd. | Laurel, Maryland

MSOE alumni are invited to the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a University-Affiliated Research Center that employs 6,300 staff to develop solutions to national security problems and advance the frontiers of space. The visit includes an APL overview, a limited tour and briefing of the New Horizons (Pluto) mission and a tour of the Intelligent Systems Center, featuring a demonstration of the Modular Prosthetic Limb (MPL). We will meet at the Main Laboratory Entrance (Lobby 1) at 2 p.m. Free visitor parking is available.
