State-of-the-art autonomous mining haul trucks and artificial intelligence are driving innovation in the mining industry. Learn more about these and other autonomous vehicles, as well as the technical and human challenges of AI use in a real-world projects from Scott Meyers, a 2004 mechanical engineering alumnus.

Meyers is a 15-year energy industry veteran who has worked around the world supporting major energy projects. His career has taken him from offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, to the western shores of sub-Saharan Africa, trouncing through the jungles of Papua New Guinea, and to his current work in the oil sands of Canada. Meyers earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MSOE and M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
