img-fpi-photonics-photosThe Photonics and Applied Optics Center’s laboratories are in an extremely low-vibration site that allows performance of the most sensitive optical projects and experiments. The center includes six 4-by-8 foot optical tables and a collection of optical instruments and apparatus that includes:

  • picowatt optical power meters,
  • computer-controlled monochromators and
  • a broad array of optical sources, including an optical time-domain reflectometer.

Recent projects associated with the center include consulting for several of America’s largest corporations involving lasers, LEDs, sensor applications and optical fabrication. The center comprises the undergraduate Applied Optics Laboratory, the Photonics and Sensors Laboratory and use of the Rapid Prototyping Center’s Laser Engraving Laboratory.
