March 8 is International Women’s Day, a day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women while also making a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The 2020 theme is Each for Equal, which is drawn from a notion of “collective individualism.” Our individual actions, conversations, behaviors and mindsets can have an impact on our community and the larger society.

MSOE will celebrate International Women’s Day with a series of events throughout March and with daily activities during the week of March 9. The result of grassroots efforts of a committee of faculty and staff members, the goal is to promote MSOE’s values, strategies and mindsets centered on inclusion.

The celebrations at MSOE range from displays across campus, spotlight on women in athletics, radio interviews on WMSE, informational sessions on how to register to vote, polaroid photos, design thinking workshop, book club discussion, origami lessons, movie night and more. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to wear purple on March 11, the official color of International Women’s Day. There also will be promotions and raffles through the MSOE Bookstore. View the schedule below for more details about the events.
