According to a study from ADP and the Wall Street Journal, Milwaukee was named the second-best metro area in the United States for recent college graduates to secure jobs.

Metro areas with at least a million residents were evaluated for their hiring rates, annual wages and affordability along with ADP payroll data of those aged 20 to 29 at over 27,000 employers in the U.S.

Raleigh, North Carolina was ranked above Milwaukee and the top five was rounded out by Baltimore, Maryland; Austin, Texas; and Birmingham, Alabama. Among the Midwest region, Milwaukee ranked first followed by Detroit, Michigan.

MSOE’s connection to the city and area companies is no doubt a contributing factor to the success seen in Milwaukee. Students at MSOE foster connections to area businesses through internships and co-op opportunities found through the Career Connections Center at MSOE which hosts annual career fairs for students, freshman through seniors.

MSOE also boasts a graduate outcomes rate of 98% for the most recent graduating class who are employed or pursuing graduate school post-graduation. This also includes an average starting salary of $75,532 for graduates, the highest early and mid-career salaries of any Wisconsin university (according to PayScale Inc).
