According to an economic impact report from the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) for 2024-2025, MSOE along with 19 other private colleges and universities in Wisconsin are one of the state’s top ten employers and strong economic drivers. The WAICU institutions created 39,242 jobs statewide, which includes 20,554 jobs in additional sectors of the state economy other than higher education, and an overall economic impact of $5.4 billion.

Data from the report outlines that MSOE directly employs over 630 faculty and staff members and supports 1,425 jobs across the region. MSOE boasts 13,943 alumni who live and work in Wisconsin, generating $2.4 billion to the state economy in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, technology and public service.

MSOE graduates not only contribute to Wisconsin’s economy but excel in high-demand industries and emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, where their median earnings four years out of college is $93,000, topping the list for Wisconsin institutions according to an earnings indicator from the U.S. Department of Education.

In addition to investment in the state’s talent pipeline, MSOE’s capital investments generated $7.6 million in economic activity for 2024-2025. One of those capital projects includes the Robert D. Kern Engineering Innovation Center—a $76.5 million, 4-story, 97,000-square-foot academic building—which is currently under construction and will open to students in fall of 2027.
