Washington Monthly has released its 21st annual College Guide and Rankings list for 2026 and Milwaukee School of Engineering has been recognized as a Best College for your Tuition (and Tax) Dollars. MSOE was awarded on the list across the United States as well as on their list of midwestern universities.

The publication ranks U.S. universities to see how they fall within four categories including access, affordability, outcomes and promoting public service. Their unique ranking methodology aims to showcase universities that benefit middle- and working-class student success outcomes.

Universities on the list were initially gathered from the U.S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and narrowed down as they fell into their four criteria.
