Raiders in Construction from MSOE ready to build at Make48 'Women in STEM' Competition in Kansas City
Raiders in Construction, an accomplished all-female team from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, is thrilled to announce their participation in Make48's empowering "Women in STEM" competition. This intense 48-hour invent-a-thon, hosted at the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) from July 11-13, 2025, will challenge young women to conceptualize, design, and construct a working prototype to solve a real-world problem.
With the generous support of Women Developing WI, BioForward, and Sunset Investors, Raiders in Construction is eager to demonstrate their expertise and innovative approach.
The team members include:
- Alexis Fleegel (Team Captain), civil engineering major
- Tahlia Fish, architectural engineering major
- Amelia Brandt, architectural engineering major
- Olivia Beals, civil engineering major
The "Women in STEM" competition serves as a crucial platform to inspire the next generation of female innovators, foster critical thinking, and help bridge the gender gap in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Raiders in Construction exemplifies the talent and dedication of young women poised to make significant contributions to these vital sectors.
The team's journey and innovations will be featured in two episodes of Season 9 of the Make48 docuseries, set to air on Roku’s This Old House Makers Channel and YouTube, further amplifying the message of female empowerment in STEM.
MSOE is proud to be involved with Make48. In September 2024, MSOE hosted a Make48 competition for eight high school teams from across the greater Milwaukee region.
