MSOE students are putting their knowledge to work through summer internship opportunities. Through these valuable experiences, students are able to directly apply what they’re learning from their classes and labs into real-world settings. Learn about just a small sample of our students who are gaining industry experience this summer.

Amelia Brandt ’27
Meet junior architectural engineering major Amelia Brandt! This summer, Amelia is a project engineering intern at Saunders Construction, Inc. in Denver, Colorado. Her tasks include submitting and tracking RFIs, taking 360° site progress photos, organizing closeout materials like operation and maintenance packets and completing quality and safety checks around the site. 

 

 

Eleanor Certalic ’27
Meet junior computer science major and cybersecurity minor Eleanor Certalic! This summer, she is a security architecture intern at Rockwell Automation. She’s working on data analysis for security tools, helping create a generative AI model using evaluation methods, developing Python scripts for browser automation/authentication and supporting the rollout of a password manager.

 

 

 

Samantha DeLisi ’28
Meet sophomore civil engineering major Samantha DeLisi! This summer, she is an engineering intern at HNTB in their transportation division. Her tasks include designing ADA curb ramps, revising traffic control staging plans and assisting in guide rail pursuits. 

 

Leigh Goetsch ’26
Meet senior computer science major and computer engineering minor Leigh Goetsch! This summer, Leigh is a space grant intern at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). There, they are on the robot operations team specifically working on coding for a program that is used for NASA's CADRE rovers. 

 

 

 

Will Heffernan ’27
Meet junior user experience major Will Heffernan! This summer, Will is a user experience intern at Uline. His responsibilities include conducting user research (surveys, interviews, testing), drawing conclusions from data and improving the online experience for Uline's users! 

 

 

Halena Hill ’27
Meet junior chemical and biomolecular engineering major Halena Hill! She is a food group intern at Hydrite in California. Her tasks include working with the company’s customers in California and observing their safety and sanitation processes. Halena tracks inventory, completes CIP verifications, upholds plant safety procedures, and investigates potential water, chemical, and energy savings.

 

 

 

Karis Johnson ’27
Meet junior civil engineering major and chemistry minor Karis Johnson! This summer, she is interning as an environmental engineer at R.A. Smith. Her tasks include doing field work (especially wetland delineation), lab work, analyzing results and working on lab reports to share with clients. 

 

Dixon Liang ’26
Meet senior electrical engineering major Dixon Liang! This summer he is a firmware engineering intern at Generac within their connectivity firmware team. There, he aids in the development and testing of firmware devices that are used to monitor and connect Generac's various energy solutions such as generators. 

 

Adrian Manchado ’27
Meet junior computer science major Adrian Manchado! This summer, Adrian is working at the Direct Supply Innovation & Technology Center as a data science intern. His tasks include analyzing data and creating visualizations for improving the decision making of stakeholders and creating new data types and information in their database based on external sources to better understand the company's customers. 

Myles Pratt ’26 
Meet senior mechanical engineering major Myles Pratt. This summer, Myles is interning for NASA contractor Amentum that works at the Marshall Space Flight Center Test Laboratory in Huntsville, Alabama. He is a design/analysis intern in the space exploration division, special test equipment branch. There, he applies his CAD modeling skills to design test equipment fixtures as well as uses Finite Element Analysis to analyze the stress experienced by testing shock, heat, vacuum, etc.

 

 

Dominic Reed ’26
Meet senior civil engineering major Dominic Reed! This summer, he is working at Nicholas & Associates, Inc. as part of their field team. His duties include tracking daily progress, documenting man-hours and deliveries, walking the site, and sitting in on meetings.
