MSOE’s chapter of Tau Beta Pi, an honor society for junior and senior engineering students that recognizes academic achievement and exemplary character, received the Most Improved Chapter Award from the national organization. They were recognized for improving their chapter’s development and project work. They recently implemented MindSET, a K-12 math and science program for a Milwaukee Public School, and an Engineering Futures program to help MSOE engineering students improve their “soft skills” to succeed in the workplace. Caleb Klaty, a senior double majoring in mechanical engineering and software engineering, attended Tau Beta Pi’s national convention to accept the award on behalf of the chapter. He attended several business meetings, professional and chapter development sessions, district meetings and more. “Our chapter’s officers plan on spreading the same enthusiasm that was experienced at the convention to our chapter at MSOE,” said Klaty.
