Milwaukee School of Engineering was named 2nd best in the Regional Universities Midwest category of the 2024 U.S. News Best Colleges Rankings. The university’s educational programs, innovation and commitment to student success were ranked in several categories, firmly placing MSOE among the best educational institutions in the United States. The rankings evaluate 1,500 colleges and universities on up to 19 measures of academic quality.

MSOE’s engineering programs were named among the best in the United States:

  • 11th Best Engineering Programs overall in the U.S. among engineering schools whose highest degree is a bachelor’s or master’s
  • 4th Best Computer Engineering Program in the U.S.
  • 6th Best Electrical Engineering Program in the U.S.
  • 9th Best Mechanical Engineering Program in the U.S.

For the third year, U.S. News ranked the top undergraduate nursing programs and MSOE’s nursing program was named 228th Best Undergraduate Nursing Program in the U.S. (tie) out of 656 schools.

The university also received the following U.S. News & World Report rankings:

  • 2nd Best University in the Midwest
  • 21st Best University in the Midwest for Veterans
  • 13th Best Value University in the Midwest
  • 11th Most Innovative University in the Midwest (tie)
  • 37th Top Performer in Social Mobility (a measure of how well schools graduated federal Pell Grant recipients) (tie)

This year, U.S. News made refinements to their rankings, and details of how they calculated rankings are available on their website. Key changes include a greater emphasis on social mobility and outcomes for graduating college students.
