We Energies STEM Center at MSOE to celebrate 5th anniversary
The We Energies STEM Center at MSOE celebrates its 5th anniversary this fall along with the milestone of having served more than 25,000 K-12 students since opening in 2020.
A special program from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8 will honor the STEM Center’s incredible supporters with remarks from MSOE President John Walz, Ph.D. and representatives from the center’s founding partners. The formal program will be followed by an open house with STEM demonstrations provided by Milwaukee K-12 students and a hands-on “STEM on Site” class for attendees to enjoy the same experience as students from throughout southeastern Wisconsin.
“Thanks to the generosity of donors’ support, the STEM Center continues to flourish, providing a multitude of STEM opportunities that students, schools and families are searching for,” said Elizabeth Taylor, MSOE director of STEM. “This year, 89% of teachers reported that our STEM on Site program was their students’ only out-of-school STEM experience. Nearly 3,000 students this year will receive a STEM experience at MSOE that was made possible by philanthropic support. All of this is made possible by donors who enable us to put funding where it is most needed by our community.”
