Certificate Information

MSOE’s Graduate Certificate in Fluid Power is designed for recent graduates and professionals interested in developing a specialization in fluid power systems. The certificate program prepares students to develop in-depth engineering skills in the fields of hydraulics and controls. The expected completion time of the certificate is two semesters, six credits per semester. 

Upon completion of the certificate program, students will be able to:

  • Design and develop fluid power systems.
  • Analyze electrohydraulic components and systems.
  • Evaluate control strategies used in fluid power systems.

Required Courses:
MEC 5770 – Flud Power Systems
MEC 6710 – Electrohydraulic Components and Systems

Electives: pick two
MEC 5305 Mechanical Systems Simulation with Fluid Power Applications
MEC 5272 – Tribology
MEC 6720 – Advanced Hydraulic System Design and Analysis
MEC 6772 – Hydraulic Fluid Conditioning and Contamination Control

Admissions Requirements

Completed bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or mechanical engineering. Professionals with a bachelor's degree in other related disciplines and relevant industry experience in fluid power may be considered for admission. 

Documents Needed

Official undergraduate transcripts. 
If cumulative GPA is below 3.0 requirement, please submit resume, statement of purpose and interview with program director.
