Job Description

The Rader School of Business at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for the first cohort of INNOVENT® Student Fellows to join the Innovent Center. Based in the Business School, the Innovent Center serves as a hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and enterprise, connecting business with engineering and technology. INNOVENT® Student Fellows will play a vital role in advancing this mission within the Rader School of Business and across MSOE. Fellows will promote the MSOE Mindset—curiosity, collaboration, and innovation—by supporting business-focused programming, industry engagement, and interdisciplinary projects.

As a Fellow, you will:

  • Support Innovent Talks, hands-on workshops, and business-focused events in partnership with MSOE clubs, societies, and industry partners.
  • Assist with student innovation projects, seed grant initiatives, and applied consulting activities tied to business and entrepreneurship.
  • Help create a destination space in the Business School that showcases MSOE’s innovative spirit to prospective students, alumni, and corporate partners.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Rader School of Business and the Innovent Center to students, faculty, and industry contacts.
  • Leverage MSOE resources such as Rosie, the university’s NVIDIA-powered supercomputer, to support business applications of AI, analytics, and emerging technologies

This role is designed for students who want to build leadership skills, expand their professional networks, and make a
tangible impact on the Business School community while connecting to the broader MSOE campus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(Average commitment of 10 hours per week from September to May)

As an INNOVENT® Student Fellow in the Rader School of Business, you will:

  • Champion the School of Business as a Business School Ambassador
  • Model curiosity, collaboration, and innovation in the classroom and within Business School activities.
  • Represent the Rader School of Business and the Innovent Center to prospective students, industry partners, and the MSOE community.

Support Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship

  • Help create a welcoming environment where students can explore business ideas, prototype projects, and engage in applied entrepreneurial learning.

Manage the Dr. Kimbel & Elaine Nap Entrepreneurial Lab

  • Help maintain and oversee equipment for student business projects.
  • Provide demonstrations, safety guidance, and first-level technical assistance to business students and visitors.
  • Monitor equipment and software, reporting issues promptly to the Administrative Assistant.
  • Act as a leader and collaborator in Innovent and Business School Programming
  • Support the planning and hosting of events such as Innovent Talks, career nights, networking sessions, and industry site visits.

Contribute to Rader School of Business Activities

  • Assist with Business school-wide initiatives that highlight business education at MSOE and showcase the Innovent Center to prospective students and alumni.
  • Support the school office on an ad hoc basis as needed with general projects beyond the normal scope of the Innovent center.

Collaborate with Fellow Innovators

  • Attend weekly Student Fellow meetings to share progress, plan business-focused activities, and develop new initiatives.
