Job Description

Office Assistants work 6-18 hours per week in a customer service position. Office Assistants work with Residence Life and university staff under the supervision of the Community Directors.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with residents, the campus community, and guests to foster a welcoming environment.
  • Adhere to all desk operations and established procedures.
  • Serve as a resource by answering questions and directing visitors to the appropriate resources.
  • Assist with mail and package services, including notifications and pick-up.
  • Assist with lockouts, check-in, and check-out processes.
  • Inform the Assistant Community Director when work orders need to be submitted.
  • Be aware of those entering and exiting the residential spaces to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Notify the Community Director regarding any behavioral issues that need to be addressed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by performing tasks such as wiping down surfaces, sweeping or vacuuming floors, and removing garbage from behind the desk.
  • Contribute to other initiatives and complete additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing.
  • Must be willing and able to work two-hour shifts between 8 a.m. and midnight as needed.
  • Must be able to show up to the shift 10 minutes early to allow transition.

Important Dates and Information

  • Fall employment begins on August 31, 2025.
  • Residence Hall desks are not closed on Labor Day (Monday, September 1, 2025).
  • Residence Hall desks are operational during university closures due to weather. Students work with Residence Life staff to ensure safe travel or appropriate coverage in these circumstances.
