Summer Program Assistant
Summer 2026
Job Description
Summer Program Assistants (SPAs) work up to 40 hours per week (hours may vary significantly each week) and provide general summer support for the department of Residence Life, ROAR, and Summer Program preparation when the Summer Programs are not in session (May 25 – July 4). During this time, SPAs are paid hourly. On ROAR Days, SPAs will play a key role in welcoming new students to the Raider community. As a SPA, you will help incoming students feel connected, confident, and prepared for their first year at MSOE. From serving as a guide, to leading activities and supporting sessions, you’ll be an essential part of welcoming the next generation of Raiders. Campus housing is provided in Viets Tower during the summer to allow SPAs to meet the varied schedules of Summer Programs and other operational needs. Summer Program Assistants reside with other summer residents on VT 11 and VT 12 when the Summer Programs are not in session. During this time, SPAs are responsible for providing their own meals.
When the Summer Programs are in session (July 5 - 24), SPAs are paid a $1,100 weekly stipend and support all aspects of the daily operation of Summer Programs, oversee Summer Program participants, and serve in a 24/7 on-call rotation. During this time, SPAs will live alongside the Summer Program groups and have food provided for the duration of the three-week program. During this period, SPAs must stay on campus with their designated Summer Program groups, are not allowed guests, and must remain substance free.
Housing can be arranged starting as soon as Spring closing (if you lived on campus for Spring 2026) and ending as late as Fall move-in (if you plan to live on campus for Fall 2026), but you are required to live on campus for the duration of your employment from May 25 - July 31 and can move in/out those days if you have been living off campus this Spring or will be living off campus in the Fall. Time off requests generally will not be granted during training, for the 3-week period when the Summer Programs are in session, or when ROAR is taking place. Supervisors will attempt to accommodate time off requests outside of these dates.
